Of Mice and Men

So, Steve caught a field mouse in our house a few days ago. Yeah. Not very excited about it being there in the first place, but very excited that it's now gone. We think it may have got in the day we had the pest control company out to spray for bugs. We had to be out of the house for about 5 hours, but when I got back, I noticed that he had placed one of those pest-catching sticky strips behind our fridge. Why would he do that when all we had complained about were little ants in our bathroom?

I had my answer the next day when Brooklyn came running into the office saying she had just seen a big bug run across the kitchen floor. When I asked her what it looked like, she says she didn't know because it went too fast. I immediate knew that it had to be a mouse. No bug I know about moves that fast, but furry little creatures sure do. :) Then later I saw it run under our bed. EWWWWWW!!! I HATE creatures in my house!! Steve arrived home at that moment so I set him the task of getting that thing out of there. Unfortunately, we had to leave shortly to go pick up a rental car as I was leaving for Washington the next morning. I was glad I wouldn't have to be in the house while the mouse was still there, but even from 900 miles away it freaked me out. So I was especially happy when a few days later Steve called me and said, "Listen to this!"

"SQUEAK, SQUEAK, SQUEAK!"

YEAH!! He caught it!!

The night before, he decided to add a bit a Pop Tart to the sticky strip to help tempt the mouse and it worked!

HAIL THE CONQUERING HERO!! :) Here's hoping for a mouse-free future!
